Study visit to University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (11-08 – 21.08. 2024)
As part of the SULAWE project, the study visit was conducted at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) in the period from11 till 21 of August 2024. Ukrainian teachers and members of associations had the opportunity to study the personalities of Slovenian agriculture, the mechanisms of cooperation between farmers and the state, and producer financing programs.
During the training period, several visits to farms in Slovenia took place. The participants of the program visited the farm for breeding the local Krskopolje pig breed and got acquainted with the personalities of keeping pigs and the possibilities of meat processing directly on the farm.
It was also very interesting to visit the cattle farm, where not only dairy cows are raised, but also milk is processed and dairy products are sold in the shop on the farm.
Very interesting lectures were organized for Ukrainian specialists. Slovenian communication expert Karmen Erjavech conducted the training “Lifelong learning and the importance of communication in the study of animal husbandry”. Also, as part of the study visit of the ERASMUS+ SULAWE project, training dedicated to agricultural education in Slovenia and knowledge transfer was held. Maria Klopcic made a very interesting report on this topic, after which Ukrainian teachers had the opportunity to ask her questions and draw an analogy with agricultural education in Ukraine.
Ukrainian teachers not only studied the experience of Slovenian professionals, but also shared their achievements. So, representatives of the universities talked about their training programs for LLL Centers, which were developed as part of the project.
The participants of the program had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of the University of Ljubljana, where they got acquainted with various research laboratories, namely the laboratory for research and knowledge transfer, the laboratory of genetics, the research of fodder, milk and the quality of livestock products.
There were also visits to experimental farms of the university. The participants of the program visited the Logatec research farm (breeding of sheep and dairy goats) and got acquainted with the equipment used for various researches.
The lecture by the professor of the University of Ljubljana, Mojci Simčič, was very interesting.
Her report was devoted to best practices related to the conservation of aboriginal animal breeds (animal genetic resources) and small ruminant breeding programs.
After the program of the study visit, all participants received certificates.
