Innovative Sector of Excellence for Lifelong Learning: Sustainable Poultry Farming

 

“Innovative Sector of Excellence for Lifelong Learning: Sustainable Poultry Farming” was established at Poltava State Agrarian University to provide training in the field of sustainable poultry farming to agricultural production specialists, to conduct scientific research, as well as to provide advisory services in the field of sustainable poultry farming, etc.

The main directions of the Sector’s activities are: expertize, research, advisory, education, information and training.

• The expert direction of activity involves promoting the objectivity and validity of scientific research, as well as increasing the role of scientific and expert support for the production of poultry products.
• The research direction of activity is aimed at the study, development, approval, adaptation and implementation of domestic and foreign innovative technologies for the production and processing of poultry products.
• The advisory direction of activity consists in providing consulting services to local enterprises and a wide range of citizens regarding the practice of production of poultry products.
• The educational direction of activity contributes to the modernization of the educational Master’s program in the direction of sustainable animal husbandry and animal welfare.
• The Sector’s information direction includes in carrying out an information and advertising campaign in the mass media regarding the advantages of production of poultry products.
• The training direction of activity foresees the development and implementation of educational training programs for practitioners on the technology of production of poultry products.

 

 

A partner company, Ukrainian Corporation for the Production of Meat on an Industrial Basis “Tvarynprom”, is engaged to implement research results and joint projects.

The Sector may also involve other interested poultry producers in cooperation, including joint research and its practical implementation, training, seminars, conferences, practical training for higher education students, technology transfer, joint development of services that can be offered beyond consulting services, support for start-ups, and targeted research.

 

The expected outcome of the Sector’s work is the creation of conditions for better integration of innovations into agro-industrial production based on the principles of sustainability, through participation in the implementation of state and regional programs, international, non-governmental and public initiatives for the development of rural areas.
